We have a wattled honeyeater that has been visiting the pawpaw (papaya) tree by our sitting room window almost every morning for the last few weeks. If we happen to be sitting quietly in the right place we are inches apart. He is quite a drab looking olive-green bird, but when he sings - a deep liquid and quite melodic call - it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
