With the holiday season coming up I thought I would share some more or less seasonal thoughts about what a Deist Christmas might be like.
I long ago earned the seasonal nickname “Scrooge” for my refusal to join in Christmas celebrations. At that time I still considered myself a Christian but felt that Jesus would have been horrified at the hedonism and licentiousness associated with the cel ...
There was a bit of a ruckus over on one of my favorite blog sites a couple of months back when biological anthropologist Barbara King took the world’s most famous atheist, Richard Dawkins, to task for urging his followers to “mock” and “ridicule” those who professed belief in the trans-substantiation of bread wafers in the Christian sacrament of the Eucharist.
King’s co-blogger Adam F ...
I often read headlines about great minds, like Stephen Hawking, explaining how there is something that came from nothing. I do not think the authors’ intent is to mislead us, but they have the issue all wrong. The “nothing” they refer to is actually a very real “something,” a sea of quantum energy filled with potential and, I believe, intent. Intent is a topic for another blog post. When people ...
I was wondering: how does Deism affect or influence your moral and ethical decision making, if at all? What impacts can Deism have on sound morals and ethics?
Ethics and morals are provided for you in nature.
Right and wrong are engrained in us as humans admittedly due to effects of social acceptance and interaction however they still stand as the most purest form of morals and social behaviour we have.

I have found from personal interaction that ridicule is not an effective means to 'uncover' unreasonable beliefs or ideas. As a matter of fact, it only re-enforces the beliefs and ideas of the individual being ridiculed. When it comes to engaging in
Honestly, the Pope's decision has not had any impact on my life or family. I think it is an interesting side story, particularly that it has been centuries since a Pope has resigned. I read an article that said he was doomed from the beginning because he did not have the intellect or charisma of John Paul II. Read More...
I'm just totally speaking for myself here and not trying to be rude or anything. Most of the Christians around where I live are not Catholic and I'm pretty sure aren't concerned one way or the other with the pope. I'm obviously not Catholic and have never been and never could be. I don't believe in Bible prophecy or the last days or that we need anyone to act as a liaison of sorts between us and God. It also bothers me a lot that the Pope... Read More...
So yesterday the Pope quits his job, which has caused a big stirring in the world around us. Most especially for those of us that have friends & spouses that are Christian. Thus far I have yet to hear too much from my friends, however my other half is a former Catholic. His desktop now has the phrase "Petrus Romanus" the last Pope is here. Yes, he is one of those sorts. The reason I mention this, is the complete lack of discussion from any of... Read More...
This thought might help you when it comes to your fear of God's wrath if you choose wrong. Ask yourself if you are afraid of not believing in Allah. Do you worry about the consequences of not following the Quaran? Or really any other of the numerous religions that have been invented over time. It helped me. Welcome and good luck! Read More...
Nice article. Thanks for sharing. Below are some of my thoughts.
Since being raised in a "revealed" religion (Roman Catholic), I guess I have always believed in god. As a teen, I began to question catholicism, but never the existence of god, so when a girlfriend's parents began to tell me that I could "know for sure" that I was going to heaven, if I just became born again, it was an easy transition. I found in my new religion acceptance,... Read More...
Hello, I found this site on the recommendation of a friend. As long as I can remember, I have been comfortable with my spirituality (thank you mom and dad). In the past, the idea of publicly sharing my beliefs with others put me off because it seemed too much like preaching and evangelism. But now I realize that I can share my thoughts without the stigma that I associated with organized religion. Thank you to everyone who makes this site... Read More...
